Jaune Flammé is an heirloom salad tomato that produces perfectly round, orange colored fruit averaging 4-5 ounces each. Translating to "Fiery Yellow", the French name is an allusion to the tomatoes' vibrant color, which can be quite exciting to take in. What's more, this popular heirloom has the notable distinction of being one of the only known heirlooms to produce orange skins and near red interiors. Inside, the fruit contain two large locules which contribute to their exceptionally juicy quality. The flavor is complex for a golden type, with a profile that leans rich and tangy accented by the perfect hint of sweetness. In the garden, Jaune Flamme is an excellent performer, bearing heavily right up until frost. The fruit are borne in elongated trusses making them easy to locate and quick to harvest. While the brightly colored tomatoes are seldom blemished, we observed a small percentage (less than 5% on any given plant) that exhibited a unique constellation of dark, bluish speckling on their shoulders.
