Java Fern (Microsorum pteropus) is a classic and resilient freshwater plant loved for its broad, deep green leaves and easy care. It grows best when attached to rocks or driftwood, as burying its rhizome can cause rot. Thriving in low to moderate light without the need for CO₂, it’s perfect for beginners and low-tech aquariums. Slow-growing and hardy, it tolerates a wide range of water conditions and reproduces by forming plantlets on mature leaves. Fish- and shrimp-safe, Java Fern adds a natural, lush appearance to any aquascape while requiring minimal maintenance.
