It is very easy to keep and grow, a perfect plant for beginners. Java Fern is very tough, fish that attack plants cannot destroy it, and herbivores do not eat it.Java ferns are slow growers, and require very few nutrients to survive. Java ferns draw nourishment from the water, and not from the substrate. Like Anubias, Java Fern will attach its roots to driftwood, rocks or any rough surface - do not bury the rhizome in gravel or substrate or it will rot.
