Plant Profile We have taken the absolute most legendary and bulletproof plant in the hobby and pre-attached a lush layer of it directly onto a clean 4-inch piece of natural driftwood. Famous for its thin, deep green fronds and near-indestructible nature, Java Moss is a favorite among absolute beginners and expert breeders alike. It easily handles low lighting and an incredibly wide range of tank conditions, transforming a plain piece of wood into an ancient-looking, weathered riverbed feature the moment it drops into your tank. Key Features & Benefits Pre-wrapped on 4-inch wood base for an instant midground accent, no tying or floating parts. Interlocking fronds trap organic particles for shrimp foraging and fry shelter. Moss softens wood edges for an authentic, mature ecosystem look. Care & Planting Instructions Place the 4-inch driftwood stick directly onto your substrate, or wedge it securely into your rockwork to add immediate vertical dimension to your layout. Maintain a stable aquarium environment and avoid sudden, drastic changes to your water parameters to keep your moss looking vibrant and healthy. Give the moss an occasional light haircut with sharp aquascaping shears to keep its shape neat, compact, and perfectly balanced. Propagate your patch in seconds by cutting or pulling a small clump apart and anchoring it to a new surface in your tank. Add CO2 injection if you want to accelerate growth and unlock the most intense, eye-popping green coloration possible. Quick Facts Listed information should be treated as general guidelines only. How do I keep my Java Moss on Driftwood from turning brown or yellow? Java Moss prefers clean, moving water and cooler temperatures (under 78°F). Browning usually occurs when organic debris gets trapped inside the fine, interlocking fronds or when water temperatures run too high. Gently siphoning debris out during regular water changes will keep the inner growth green and healthy. 2. What should I do if the driftwood piece tries to float when placed in the tank? Because the underlying hardscape is real natural wood, it may retain slight buoyancy. If it tries to lift, simply weigh the stick down with a clean rock or tuck it securely into surrounding hardscape for a few days until it becomes completely waterlogged. 3. How do I stop moss trimmings from spreading everywhere during maintenance? Always turn off your filter pumps and powerheads before trimming moss. Use sharp curved shears to make clean cuts, and immediately scoop or siphon out floating cuttings so they don't take root in unwanted areas of your aquarium.
