'Jebena', 2022 Inside a spaceship soaring above a vibrant city, the space is crafted to offer a peaceful setting for enjoying Jebena* in the early evening. As usual, the tray rests on a Bambar stool, while the fragrant blend of coffee and Bakhoor** creates an atmosphere perfect for slowing down and reflecting before the night begins. *Jebena/جبنة is traditional East African coffee. Dark roast coffee is boiled with a traditional mix of spices and water to create a very rich and thick drink. Usually presented in a tray that carries cups, sugar and a Mubkhar (incense burner) with burning coal and bakhoor** to complement the fragrance of the coffee.**Bakhoor: ‘Incense’ in Arabic.
