CD EPWillow is a 5 track EP written and produced by Jennifer McMahon. Recording took place at Sound Emporium Studios in Nashville in November 2021 and The Barn of Music in Dublin in 2022.The sophomore album from Jennifer McMahon, this record leans into the Jennifer’s influences in old-school soul music while the lyrics remain the focal point.Lush, warm keys and organs overlay each other played by Boston- native Clifford Bond, syncopated by a crisp drum kit and the studios tasty chamber reverb with Colorado’s Dev Malloy behind the sticks. Electric and upright bass swap throughout the recording with playful phrases by Nashville session player Zachariah Witcher and a tasteful touch of electric guitar on some choice pieces by Dubliner Darren Giles. Vocals, whether tender or soaringly powerful call to mind the voice of an emotive performer and storyteller in Jennifer.Jennifer is a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer from Dublin. She holds a masters in music from Berklee College of Music where she recorded and self- produced her debut album Part of The Whole with more than 20 musicians from over 10 countries. From an eclectic musical household, her earliest musical memories involved groups like The Drifters, The Supremes and ABBA. A backdrop of grunge and rap music, with thanks to her brothers, instilled even more curiosity about music. Entering college in Ballyfermot, she dived into the music of the great songwriters of our time before continuing into jazz studies in Dublin and later, developing her own musical voice while living and studying in Spain. A musical melting pot, Jennifer’s influences range from Jeff Buckley to Esperanza Spalding and Sam Cooke. Willow is a return to the singer-songwriter, with major soul influences.
