She studied at Camberwell College of Arts and Falmouth School of Art. Her practice is centred around domestic objects and locating the sublime in the seemingly mundane. She explores the gulf between our exterior façades and inner worlds, allowing us to glimpse the varying degrees of chaos and order that may lie behind doors. Allen’s bold use of raking light contrasts clear-cut shade against over-exposed surfaces, spotlighting objects in a warm radiance. Layered artificial and autobiographical elements to her paintings compounds the sense that Allen takes these moments from partially remembered dreams – simultaneously fleeting and remote, but also achingly familiar. Her delicate handling of light visually reinforces this disorientating quality; everything is visible, yet still remains unclear. All our prints are carefully wrapped in acid-free tissue paper and flat-packed for safe transport. Before framing, make sure to keep your print stored flat to ensure it remains in perfect condition. Try to place your work in an environment with a normal temperature. Extreme temperatures or humidities can have an adverse effect on your beautiful print, so be sure to keep it protected! We always recommend framing the work behind glass as a great way to keep it safe from any adverse environmental conditions. When framing the work, we always opt for a frame with Art Glass.
