Origin and Heritage Jin Jun Mei is a premium Chinese black tea from the Wuyi Mountains of Fujian Province. This area is historically significant as the birthplace of Lapsang Souchong, one of the earliest black teas ever produced. While it draws on this ancient lineage, Jin Jun Mei is a relatively modern tea style. Developed in the early 2000s, it was inspired by traditional Zheng Shan Xiao Zhong production but refined into a more delicate, golden bud-heavy black tea. Meaning of the Name The name Jin Jun Mei translates roughly to “Golden Beautiful Eyebrow,” which describes its physical and qualitative characteristics: Jin: Refers to the golden color of the tea buds. Jun: Often associated with high quality and its origin in high mountains. Mei: Refers to the delicate, eyebrow-like shape of the tea.
