During its release, the John Walker & Sons Private Collection 2015 Edition picked up a well-deserved double Gold at the renowned San Francisco World Spirits competition and was subsequently named Best Blended Scotch with a no age statement. This second edition to the Private Collection series was created using 29 specially selected casks from the blenders highly regarded reserve selection. The resulting blend packs some serious fruit and is a delight and pleasure to enjoy, that’s if you’re lucky enough to get hold of one (only 8,888 were produced back in 2015). It’s no surprise to expect a colourful foray of fresh citrus peel and stewed apple on the nose. The mouthfeel is exceptionally silky with fruit in abundance; sweet melon, further exotic fruit notes and a background of warm honey. The finish is rich and tangy, vanilla pods and hints of smoke. A truly masterful blend and one worth considering if you’re looking for something seriously special.
