The band would eventual ly travel to Los Angeles and score a recording contract. However, while demos and recordings were made, an album was never finished, and the band was dropped. Jonathan Sings! was released in 1983, produced by Peter Bernstein and featuring a new band lineup including former members of The Modern Lovers. The album became a fan favorite and received critical acclaim, ranking at #8 in The Village Voice's Pazz & Jop poll and #19 on NME's Album of the Year list.
