Inspired by scientific reference systems, he continues to break down the boundaries between various art forms by exploring and embodying mathematical patterns such as grids, codes, errors, and random structures, as well as self-organizing phenomena. He composed the music for Alejandro González Iñárritu's Oscar-winning film "The Revenant," which was nominated for Best Original Score at the Golden Globe Awards, the British Academy Film Awards, and the Grammy Awards. He has received numerous awards, including the Giga Hertz Award (2012, shared with Ryoji Ikeda), and possesses academic merit, having won the Villa Massimo, Rome (2007), the Zurich Art Prize (2007), Villa Aurora, Los Angeles (2003), and the Ars Electronica Award (2000 and 2001, shared with Marco Pergian).
