JUKI’s Enhanced Air Threading Overlocker Easier Threading, Better Control and More Comfortable Sewing The JUKI MO-2800 is designed for sewists who want the speed and professional finish of an overlocker without the usual threading frustration. Its powered air system transports thread directly through the upper and lower loopers, while the automatic needle threader assists with the left and right needles. Once threaded, the machine provides strong four-thread construction, versatile three-thread finishing, two-thread overcasting, rolled hems, flatlocking and decorative effects. The MO-2800 advances the experience further with a knee-operated presser-foot lift, supplied curve foot, easy rolled-hem tension control, magnetic needle trays and JUKI’s patented Tweak Width Adjustment system. Explore more domestic overlockers , overlocker needles and quality sewing threads from Direct Sewing. The MO-2800 is a premium choice for garment makers who want fast air threading, excellent curved-seam control and the convenience of lifting the presser foot without taking their hands away from the fabric. 01 Supplied Curve Foot Guide shaped garment sections and inside curves more smoothly around the knife and needle. 02 Knee Lifting Lever Raise the presser foot with your knee while both hands continue controlling the fabric. 03 Tweak Width Adjustment Correct excess thread and fabric curling during overcasting using JUKI’s patented adjustment system. Powered Looper Threading Insert. Press. Threaded. Insert a short length of thread into the port and press the air-control button. Fast and Approachable Setup Thread the Upper and Lower Loopers with Air JUKI’s electric air-threading system carries each thread from the front threading port through the internal channel and out through the looper. This avoids the long series of internal hooks and guides associated with conventional overlocker threading and makes complete rethreading or colour changes considerably easier. Powered by the machine’s electric motor. Threads the upper and lower loopers. Loopers can be threaded individually. Ideal for frequent colour changes. Helpful for new and experienced overlocker users. Automatic Needle Threading The Needles Are Easier to Thread Too The air system threads the loopers, while the MO-2800’s built-in mechanism assists with threading the left and right needles. Lower the threading lever, position the thread and release the lever to draw the thread through the needle eye. Reduces handling around the needle area. Helps reduce eye strain. Useful when changing needle configurations. Complements the powered looper-threading system. Makes full machine setup more approachable. Three-Step Needle Threading Quick and Comfortable Setup Lower the lever, hook the thread and return the lever to complete needle threading. Supplied Curve Foot Better Control Around Shaped Edges A 9.95mm needle-to-knife distance and specialised foot help guide inside curves smoothly. An Important Upgrade for Garment Makers Sew Inner Curves More Beautifully Curved garment sections can be difficult to keep aligned while the knife trims and the stitch forms. The MO-2800 keeps the needle and knife approximately 9.95mm apart and includes a dedicated curve foot. This combination improves visibility and lets the fabric turn more naturally through necklines, armholes and shaped seams. Curve foot supplied as standard. Excellent for necklines and armholes. Improves handling around inside curves. Supports more consistent trimming. Useful for both woven and stretch garments. Hands-Free Fabric Positioning Raise the Presser Foot with Your Knee The included knee-lifting lever lets you raise the presser foot without removing your hands from the project. This makes it easier to place fabric precisely, reposition a curved section or remove the work while retaining control over the layers. Hands remain on the fabric. Particularly useful around curved sections. Knee-operated lift of up to approximately 6mm. Manual lever provides up to approximately 8mm clearance. Improves comfort during frequent handling. Knee Lifting Lever Included Both Hands Stay on the Project Lift the foot, reposition the fabric and continue sewing with less interruption. JUKI Exclusive Technology Tweak Width Adjustment Fine-tune the stitch when excess thread forms at the edge or the fabric begins to curl. Finer Control of the Finished Edge Correct Loose Thread and Fabric Curling More Easily JUKI’s patented Tweak Width Adjustment mechanism gives you another way to refine how the thread wraps around the cut fabric edge. It can help correct excess thread extending beyond the material or reduce unwanted curling during overcasting. JUKI-exclusive patented mechanism. Corrects excess thread at the finished edge. Helps reduce fabric curling. Useful when changing fabric weights or thread types. Provides additional control beyond the main cutting-width dial. Simplified Rolled-Hem Setup Switch to Rolled Hemming with Less Adjustment The MO-2800 adds a dedicated rolled-hemming thread-tension lever. Raising the lever prepares the thread tension for rolled hemming. Raise the overlock and rolled-hem selection lever, then set the cutting-width adjustment between approximately 2.5 and 3.5 to prepare the machine. Dedicated rolled-hem tension lever. No need to replace the needle plate. Excellent for scarves, napkins and ruffles. Supports narrow and decorative finishes. Combine with differential feed for frilled edges. Easy Rolled Hemming A Faster Route to Fine Edges Use the dedicated tension and stitch-selection levers to prepare the machine for rolled hemming. Professional Domestic Overlocking Fast, Stable and Versatile Across Changing Fabrics The MO-2800 combines air threading, precise fabric control and seven useful stitch formations for garment construction, edge finishing and decorative work. 1,500 Maximum SPM 2/3/4 Thread Operation 0.7–4mm Stitch Length 68mm Throat Height 2 LED Lights Differential Feed 0.7 to 2.0 Flat Seams or Decorative Texture Adjust how the front and rear feed dogs transport the fabric to suit its behaviour. Better Results on Knits and Fine Fabrics Adjustable Differential Feed Stretch fabrics can become wavy during overlocking, while lightweight woven materials may pucker. Differential feed changes the relative movement of the machine’s two feed-dog sections. Adjustments can be made while sewing, helping you flatten difficult seams or intentionally produce gathers and decorative stretching. Helps prevent waving on knit fabrics. Insert approximately 1 to 2cm of thread into the relevant threading port and press the air-control button. A motor-driven burst of air carries the thread through the internal channel and out through the looper. Does the air system thread the needles too? The powered air system threads the upper and lower loopers. The left and right needles are threaded using the machine’s separate built-in automatic needle threader. What is the curve foot used for? The supplied curve foot helps guide shaped fabric sections around the needle and cutting knife. It is particularly useful for necklines, armholes and other inside curves. What does Tweak Width Adjustment do? JUKI’s patented Tweak Width Adjustment mechanism helps correct excess thread extending beyond the fabric edge and can reduce unwanted fabric curling during overcasting. Does the JUKI MO-2800 include a knee lift? Yes. The knee-lifting lever raises the presser foot by approximately 6mm while both hands remain on the fabric. The manual lever can provide up to approximately 8mm of clearance. What is the difference between the MO-2800 and MO-2000QVP? Both offer powered air threading, automatic needle threading, differential feed and 2/3/4-thread operation. The MO-2000QVP adds an informational LCD screen with setting guidance. The MO-2800 instead adds a knee lift, supplied curve foot, Tweak Width Adjustment, easy rolled-hem tension lever and magnetic needle trays. Can the MO-2800 sew rolled hems? Yes. It includes a dedicated rolled-hem tension lever and built-in stitch-selection system, so you can prepare the machine for rolled hemming without changing the needle plate. Can the MO-2800 sew with two, three and four threads? Yes. It can create two-thread overcasting, three-thread overlocking, narrow overlocking, rolled hems, flatlocking and strong four-thread construction seams. Is the MO-2800 suitable for knit and stretch fabrics? Yes. Four-thread overlocking creates flexible construction seams, while the adjustable differential feed helps prevent knit fabrics from becoming stretched or wavy. Can the upper knife be switched off? Yes. The upper knife can be retracted when you want to sew without trimming the fabric edge. Does the MO-2800 sew a coverstitch? No. The MO-2800 is an overlocker and does not sew coverstitch or chain stitch. A separate coverstitch machine is required for professional twin-needle or triple-needle cover hems. Is the JUKI MO-2800 suitable for beginners? Yes. The air-threading system and automatic needle threader remove much of the complexity associated with threading. Its advanced fabric-handling features also make it an excellent long-term machine for experienced garment makers. What needles does the JUKI MO-2800 use? JUKI specifies SCHMETZ 130/705H domestic-style needles or compatible JLx2 needles. Select the needle type and size according to the fabric and thread. Does an overlocker replace a normal sewing machine? No. An overlocker specialises in joining, trimming and finishing fabric edges. A conventional sewing machine is still required for standard lockstitch seams, zips, buttonholes, topstitching and many general construction steps. Premium JUKI Air Threading Professional Finishing with Exceptional Fabric Control The JUKI MO-2800 is an outstanding overlocker for garment makers who want effortless threading, confident curved-seam handling and hands-free presser-foot control.
