The artist was inspired to create a series of 12 landscapes, each representing a different month of the year, incorporating subjects and colors that are personally associated with each month. Every painting in the series was completed en plein air in a single sitting. For "July," the artist chose Staithes, a picturesque fishing village on the North Yorkshire coast, as the setting. Staithes, with its charming cobbled streets, quaint cottages, and the rugged beauty of the surrounding coastline, is one of the artist's favourite places to visit. The village’s iconic harbour, with its timeless fishing boats and the rocky cliffs that frame the shoreline, provided a serene yet dynamic backdrop.
