Elaine is a printmaker based in the North-East of Scotland, working from her home studio in Aberdeenshire. Drawing sits at the heart of her practice. Using simple, expressive lines in an illustrative style, she distils her subjects to their essence, to evoke a memory, atmosphere, or an emotional connection to place. Having recently returned to the area where she grew up, Elaine finds inspiration in the surrounding countryside with its shifting light, colour, and mood. These observations are developed into prints, primarily using silkscreen and risograph printing techniques. After graduating with a Fine Art degree from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in 2003, Elaine continued developing her printmaking practice until 2008, when she opened her own gallery, Junction Arts, in Aberdeen.
