Join us as we explore the depth and beauty of tea culture through hands-on learning, sensory engagement, and storytelling in our monthly tea classes. This month, we journey into the mountains of Wuyishan & Tongmuguan — the birthplace of oolong tea and black tea. Chinese Tea Class: Wuyishan x Tongmuguan — Origins of Oolong & Black TeaSaturday, June 13 10:30 AM–12:30 PM From the rocky cliffs of Wuyishan to the misty forests of Tongmuguan, these neighbouring regions have shaped the history and evolution of some of the world’s most influential teas. Together, we will explore the origins of Wuyi yancha and Lapsang Souchong, tracing how geography, craftsmanship, oxidation, and roasting gave rise to the traditions of oolong and black tea as we know them today. Through guided tastings, we will compare the aromatic depth, structure, and expression of teas from both regions while learning how they are connected through history, technique, and terroir. Through side-by-side tastings and brewing practice, we will deepen our understanding of these iconic tea traditions while sharpening our senses and appreciation for the people and landscapes behind every cup.
