Nancy Hall began painting with her mouth at the kitchen table, helping her young children with their homework after a motorcycle accident in 2000 left her tetraplegic. It was those same children who encouraged her to keep going. Self-taught in watercolour, she found her voice in subjects full of warmth and colour — and this painting shows exactly that spirit at full stretch. Giraffes, elephants, zebras, lions, flamingos, monkeys and more gather at a jungle watering hole in an explosion of colour and movement — the kind of painting a child can spend time inside, finding new details every time they look.
