When we were designing the Jupiter Blues, we wanted to have that perfect balance of something that Jimmy Page could wail on, or Bo Diddly could could make sing. We started with a chambered Mahogany body with a Maple cap for this axe. Some would say it is similar to a Les Paul in that manner, but it is a bit more unique than that. We had always heard stories of Bo Diddly and Eddie Van Halen taking old guitars and hacking them up until they felt that they looked and sounded right, so in the vein of those old school legends, we took the CAD drawing of the Dream Studios Nightmare and started hacking away. We wanted it to be a players' guitar; something you could sit down and lean on and really chunk out some blues, so it has a bottom cut away that allows it to really sit comfortably on your knee. Then we whacked off the top of the body so that you could really lean over it and play your heart out. Some have said it has a New Wave look and style, while others pick up on the Bo Diddly influence. Some have said we need to have Rick Nielsen play this guitar, but the best thing about her, is that when anyone picks her up the first thing they say, is "Wow, this thing can play!" After you get over her wild looks, and you start to look at her subtle curves. You notice the 22-fret 24.6" scale set-in neck with the Ebony fretboard. The 351 radius is nice and smooth, and while she may be a little thick with a 44mm bone nut, the compound curves on the mahogany neck really make it fun to run your hands all up and down her. Up at the headstock, you notice the 3/3 Gumby-head headstock with real Grover Stay-Tite tuners and access to the dual action truss rod. She stays in tune and really sings. You know that she will give you that sweet but slightly rude tone of a beautiful southern girl. Now as you move back down to the body, you notice the 3-ply binding around the maple cap of the chambered Mahogany body, but your attention is quickly diverted to the real Seymour Duncan Pick-Ups that give her that sweetheart of a voice. In the Neck position you see a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates SHPG-1 pickup, so you know that she will give you that sweet but slightly rude tone of a beautiful southern girl. The SHPG-1 is paired up with a Seymour Duncan Custom Custom SH-11 in the bridge to give you a little bit more of an aggressive edge. With this combination of pick-ups, you find a traditional 3-way toggle to alternate from Neck, Both, and Bridge selections, but there is also a secondary toggle switch; what is this one for? Well, it is for when this girl wants to get a little extra nasty, you can just flick the switch and the Seymour Duncan Firestorm kicks in and you get an instant 20db Gain boost to let her wicked side really show through. The Jupiter Blues, has a Tune-O-Matic Bridge for easy intonation set up and a stopbar tailpiece to make it easy to load those strings. The Speed Knobs make for easy volume and tone control in any type of situation. The Jupiter Blues is available in a variety of flavors, from the Metallic Copper, the Ferrari Red, Catalina Yellow and transparent colors of Ametyst Burst and Natural Burst.
