Jean-Michel and Laurence Petit started Domaine de la Renardière in 1990 and work seven and a half hectares, all of it inside Arbois-Pupillin. The village sits on Triassic red marne s, the iron-rich soils it is known for, and Jurassique comes off the most calcareous parcels among them. It is Chardonnay, fermented on indigenous yeasts with every parcel kept apart, and sulphur held back until just before bottling when it goes in at all. Jurassique names the rock, and the wine follows suit. It tastes of stone before it tastes of fruit, with citrus, hazelnut and a chalky, tightly drawn finish. Show more
