The Kangaroo Chair, a Pierre Jeanneret inspired lounge chair by Object Embassy, from the 1950s Chandigarh Collection. Solid A-grade teak, hand-woven natural rattan. A defining piece for living rooms, lounge areas, and design interiors. Free shipping and returns across Europe. The Kangaroo Chair is one of Pierre Jeanneret and his team's most distinct lounge chair designs. Originally placed in the hall of the Chandigarh General Hospital and in private residences across the Capitol Complex project, it is one of the rarer pieces in the Chandigarh design archive. Its defining feature is the Z-shaped side frame: two parallel assemblies, each formed from three continuous coplanar elements that carry the weight from the rear leg through the armrest and down to the front. The silhouette of this lounge chair is immediately recognisable in any room. Catalogued as PJ-SI-59, the chair sits slightly lower than a standard lounge chair, which gives that recognisable airy feeling to a room. With a gently bowed backrest and a deep, open seat that holds the body in a posture that is relaxed without being formless. The frame is solid A-grade teak heartwood from a sustainably managed plantation. The seat and backrest are square-woven by hand from natural cane, in the original 1950s style. Every Kangaroo Chair ships fully assembled, carries a deep-laser engraved serial number, and passes a 74-point quality inspection. Two-year warranty.
