Kasco De-Icers move warmer subsurface water toward the surface to help protect docks, boats, pilings, marinas, and waterfront structures from ice pressure. Choose horsepower, voltage, and cord length around the structure, expected lowest temperature, water depth, obstructions, current, and the shape of the opening you need. An angled installation directs flow outward and tends to create a longer, oblong opening. Kasco recommends positioning the unit 4 to 6 feet below the surface and at least 1 foot above the bottom. Shallow placement can reduce performance. Open-water estimates are not guarantees. Wind, air temperature, water depth, current, obstructions, mounting angle, and available warmer bottom water all change the result. A de-icer cannot guarantee protection against moving or wind-driven ice, strong currents, extreme cold that freezes water to the bottom, or a site without warmer subsurface water. What is included and what is separate Standard packages include the selected de-icer and two 20 ft mooring lines. Universal and Industrial dock mounts are optional and sold separately. The customer supplies the mounting pipe. C-10 and C-20 controllers are for 120V units. C-10 uses a thermostat. C-20 operates only when both its timer and thermostat conditions are met. Do not use a 120V controller with a 208-240V unit. Ask LakeTech about high-voltage control requirements. Kasco provides a three-year unit warranty. Ropes, power cords, and propellers are excluded from that manufacturer warranty. Electrical and open-water safety Use an approved GFCI-protected circuit and qualified electrical installation. Mark open water visibly where people, pets, snowmobiles, skaters, or other traffic could approach. Never enter the water while the de-icer is connected or operating. Inspect the unit, cord, mooring, and mount regularly and follow the current manufacturer manual.
