They sit between the front tires and the alignment rack so the wheels can swivel under load instead of dragging across the ramp surface — that low-friction rotation is what makes accurate alignment readings possible on a 4-post or scissor alignment lift. Each turn plate has a raised concentric grid for centering the tire, an etched degree scale around the perimeter for reading steering angle, and a locking pin to immobilize the plate while driving the vehicle on or off.
