Kavinsky’s debut album OutRun builds a cinematic world from bright synthesisers, heavy electronic rhythms and the mythology of a nocturnal driver. Across thirteen tracks, the recor d moves from the narrated ‘Prelude’ into ‘Blizzard’ and ‘ProtoVision’, setting the scene for a sequence of instrumentals and vocal songs. Its best-known moment, ‘Nightcall’, features Lovefoxxx and production from Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. Havoc of Mobb Deep appears on ‘Suburbia’, while Tyson adds vocals to ‘First Blood’. Alongside those collaborations are ‘Odd Look’, ‘Testarossa Autodrive’ and ‘Roadgame’, before ‘Endless’ brings the story to a close.
