The coating has a low initial viscosity that wets and penetrates the surface to the origin of the rust. By using it’s moisture curing mechanism, RustSeal combines with atmospheric moisture to start the curing process of the resins expanding and interlocking within the pores of the rust. This unique process literally enables the coating to galvanize itself to the material, becoming an integral part of the surface. While RustSeal will indeed provide superior rust protection when coated directly over a minimally prepared surface, only our unique 3 Step Total Rust Eradication System offers the proper surface preparation and unmatched rust stopping power.
