Widely used at temples including Kongōbu-ji, the head temple of Kōyasan, this incense is prepared from caref ully selected natural aromatics based on the traditional Buddhist “Five Fragrances” recorded in ancient Indian scriptures: agarwood, sandalwood, clove, borneol, and turmeric, together with other natural fragrance materials. Each stick is 24 cm long (9 sun), presented as one bundle. This extra-long format is especially suitable for formal offerings, extended services, and traditional temple-style use at the home altar. The fragrance is calm, deep, and reminiscent of historic temples—quiet, dignified, and understated.
