A lovely oval serving platter in the Trentham pattern, made by Keeling and Co. of the Dale Hall Works, Burslem, Staffordshire. The Trentham pattern is printed and painted in soft t eal and mid-blue florals with olive-gold foliage, arranged in loose sprays around a wide white well. The rim is gently scalloped with a gilt edge. The backstamp with its kneeling figure and the date 1790 is one of the more recognisable marks from the North Staffordshire potteries, where Keeling traded as successors to the Mayer family from 1886 onward. C. 1886 - 1891. Condition: Overall great. Gilding to the rim shows rubbing and some loss, consistent with use and age.
