The main wood of this keepsake box is spalted maple - a tree from our own property which I felled, milled into lumber, and had kiln-dried. In the design and layout, I take special care to wrap the spalting patterns around the mitered corners of the box. Black walnut is the accent wood, featuring in the miter keys, the lift-off lid, and the lid pull.
