The main wood of this keepsake box is sweet gum, which I harvested and milled myself. Sweet gum, also known as satin walnut, has a unique interlocked grain pattern and very interes ting figure. Black walnut is the accent wood, featured in the miter keys, the lift-off lid, and the hand-turned lid pull.
