How Pyrethrum Insecticides WorkKendon pyrethrum-based insecticides (derived from the dried flowers of Tanacetum cinerariifolium, or pyrethrum daisies) are natural, fast-acting solutions for pest control. The active compounds disrupt insect nerve function by modulating voltage-gated sodium channels, preventing them from closing. This results in hyperexcitation, rapid paralysis, and death within minutes of contact. The six active compounds—pyrethrins and related esters—make it difficult for pests to develop resistance.
