The cherries are cultivated by smallholder farmers, many of whom deliver their harvests to the Gatina washing station, part of the Othaya Farmers Cooperative Society — a producer group known for consistency and quality. At 1,700 to 1,800 meters above sea level, the cool climate and nutrient-rich soil slow cherry maturation, concentrating sugars and complexity. After selective handpicking, cherries are fully washed using clean river water, fermented, and dried on raised beds under the sun — a hallmark of Kenyan coffee craftsmanship.
