This delicious cup is hand selected from the Kenyan Auction Lot from a variety of farms in order to produce a superior cup. It's balanced, dry and bright with subtly sweet notes of tangerine, peach and honey. Arrival Date: March 24th, 2017 Acidity & Brightness: Crisp and bright acidity, subtle sweetness Balance & Finish: Great balance, dry, tannic finish Body & Texture: Full bodied, silky texture Flavors: Tangerine, peach & honey Grade: AA, Very Large (18-19 screen) Very Hard and Dense Processing: Fully Washed, shade grown, hand picked, sun dried on raised tables Varietals: Kenya SL28 and SL34 Roasting: Start with a City + (Light-medium) and feel free to try Full City (Medium). Kenyan coffees are famous for their crisp acidity and dark roasting will mute that. However, if you prefer, this coffee may be carried into a Full City Plus and still retain a lot of body and most of it's brightness. This coffee roasts very evenly. Reminder: This Coffee is raw, you must roast it before brewing Our Review: We usually source our Kenya AA auction selections from only one farm, but after a conversation with our importer we decided to stretch outside of our comfort zone. Let's just say we're happy we did! Our importer works with producers with intimate knowledge of the Kenyan Auction market who specialize in blending selections from the top auctions in order to create a cup that's greater than it's parts. We were skeptical at first but the proof is in the pudding...or cup in this case. While most Kenyan AA's tend to be aggressively "wine-toned" with strong tannic notes, this coffee has a more mellow tone while still retaining a dry finish, reminiscent of a white wine, without actually tasting like you're drinking wine flavored coffee. The front end is crisp and bright with a subtle sweetness and the cup favors a full body without being overwhelming. Look for notes of tangerine, peach and honey.
