Washed ProcessSL-28, SL-34, and RUIR-11 Peaberry hybrid cultivars Notes of:tart apricot, pineapple, bright acidity This washed Kenyan from Mahiga Nyeri brews to quite a complex and clean cup profile, with sugary sweetness and fruit notes that are punchy and aromatic. The dry fragrance had a sweet smell of red fruit and berry tea, with notes of raw sugar, and a grapefruit peel accent added a fragrant aspect to the sweetness. This coffee is a peaberry, a rare and naturally occurring mutation where a single, round seed (instead of the usual two) develops inside a coffee cherry, resulting in a denser, smaller bean with a more concentrated and brighter flavor profile. On drip, this coffee will have juicy notes of cherry and apricot, with sugary sweetness. Espresso will highlight acidity and brightness, with a lighter body.
