Quick Facts: ABV: 9% | Origin: New York, USA | Semi-Sweet Red | Producer: Joseph Zakon Winery Production & Heritage Joseph Zakon Winery was founded in 1981 and has built its reputation producing kosher wines under strict rabbinical supervision. Kesser Seven Seventy Red is produced using the Mevushal method, a flash-pasteurization process that renders the wine suitable for handling by anyone while maintaining its kosher status — an important distinction for observant households. The winery's focus on ceremonial and Kiddush-appropriate wines gives the Seven Seventy line a clear identity: accessible, fruit-forward, and lower in alcohol than most table wines. Tasting Notes Aroma: Fresh grape and ripe berry fruit lead on the nose, followed by a gentle sweetness. There is little oak influence, keeping the aromatics clean and straightforward. Taste: The entry is soft and fruity with prominent natural grape flavors. At mid-palate, the semi-sweet character is balanced by a smooth, easy-drinking texture that avoids cloying heaviness. The modest 9% ABV keeps things light and approachable. Finish: Medium in length with lingering fruity sweetness and a clean fade. The finish is smooth, without harsh tannins or bitterness. How to Drink Seven Seventy Red Seven Seventy Red is traditionally served for Kiddush at a cool room temperature or lightly chilled. Its semi-sweet profile and low alcohol also make it a pleasant aperitif wine. For a simple spritzer, combine it with chilled sparkling water and a squeeze of lemon to lighten the sweetness on warm days. It works in a classic Sangria, where the fruit-forward base melds naturally with citrus and seasonal fruit. A Kalimotxo — equal parts red wine and cola over ice — plays off the wine's inherent sweetness with carbonation and spice.
