In 2023 the manufacturer upgraded this unit to enhance the reliability and longevity of the electromechanical relay. So now the kilnminder times the relay switching so it occurs at precisely the moment the line voltage passes through zero volts. It also alternates between closing into a positive going cycle and a negative going cycle. Doing this dramatically reduces the buildup of metal deposits on the relay contacts. They also made the push buttons slightly larger and gave them a better tactile feel and upgraded the feet on the unit to higher quality, more crack-resistant versions.
