Sunset's Embrace is a metre-wide panorama built around the end of the day — the low, warm light Kimberley Harris chases more than any other. 'Growing up in a very rural location I have great memories of walking the dog in the months of summer as dusk falls and the sky is a palette of pink hues,' she says. 'Light and shadows play a massive part in my pieces.' This is that memory, laid down in oil with the palette knife.She traces it all to a childhood visit to a JMW Turner exhibition at the Tate with her father, and that Romantic handling of light has stayed with her since.
