Novice Lessons 20-36
Who the program is for The Novice Program is perfect for students in PreK through grade 1, and for older learners who need help with reading and spelling simple, one-syllable words . Our affordable, user-friendly manuals are designed to help parents, tutors, and practitioners quickly and effectively bring students up to grade level. What’s included Every module has two versions, one for practitioners and another for students. Links to extra resources help enhance practitioners' understanding of the science of reading. Lesson content and structure The lessons in the Novice Program (20-36) continue to build the foundation for all future learning, ensuring each step is clear and connected. These step-by-step lessons cover essential reading and spelling skills, including hearing and working with sounds in words (phonemic awareness), recognizing and writing letters, sounding out words (phonics and blending), spelling (encoding), reading smoothly (fluency), and learning important sight words. The Novice Program, Lessons 20-36 offer supportive, step-by-step lessons that help students build confidence and celebrate progress in early literacy. Each lesson focuses on one sound and spelling, such as a short vowel (o, u, or e), or a consonant (x, z, l, y, w, k, j, or v). Words and sentences that students read and spell increase in complexity from one lesson to the next. By Lesson 36, students can read and spell CVC (consonant-vowel-consonant) words such as fox, sun, zip, leg, and yes, one-syllable words (desk, swim, just, upon), and high-frequency words (do, go, my, said). English sounds and spellings are taught in sequential order from the most common to the least common. The dynamic lessons systematically increase in complexity. Lessons include fun, easy-to-read stories and poems at different reading levels, so every student can experience success. These engaging texts spark students' interest and help them remember what they've learned. Cumulative word lists at the end of each lesson provide additional practice and opportunities for students ready for a challenge. Helpful tips for English learners are included throughout the program to support success at every step. Our printable Sound/Spelling Cards and Elkonin Tokens and Boxes make Marvi's Way® lessons easier—and more fun! These tools help students build skills and confidence quickly, and you can use them to create games that turn practice into play. For years, I have had to use multiple programs/resources to achieve the same outcome that this program provides, or had to create my own. It saves time since it has it all in one place. This program includes phonemic awareness, phonological awareness, letter-sound correspondence, grammar, writing, dictation, and reading comprehension. It is based on how children learn to read and encompasses all the components they need to become proficient readers. Parents, educators, and tutors can use this program because it is easy to implement and saves time, whether the child has dyslexia, difficulty learning to read, or is starting to learn to read. Check out this program if you want to make a difference in children’s lives. ” — Jessica “Marvi’s Way is a structured literacy curriculum to teach reading and spelling systematically and explicitly, and it provides an excellent scope and sequence throughout the lesson plans. Each lesson gives the user a step-by-step process for teaching reading. I am especially impressed by the blending activities, which are so key for struggling readers, as well as the curated lists of words, including those that are challenging for kids whose skills exceed those of beginning readers.
