Originally developed in 1960 (Showa 35) through joint research between Nitto Boseki and Kurashi no Techo, this long-selling dishcloth remains a customer favourite. It features deli cate embroidery of an illustration by Yasuharu Hanamori, adding a charming accent to an everyday essential. Extensive research found that a cotton–rayon blend offers greater softness, durability, and absorbency than 100% cotton. After producing 42 prototypes and repeating rigorous wipe-and-wash tests, the ideal balance was achieved: 65% cotton and 35% rayon. This carefully selected fabric proved to be the most durable through continuous use. To ensure a clean finish when drying glasses and tableware, the woven fabric is flame-singed to remove excess lint, helping prevent fibres from clinging to surfaces.
