It's the only place most Rupert kids had been to that had sand when Hannah’s mom was a kid. Nostalgic beach picnic vibes on a little island in the rainforest. ABOUT KITSON ISLAND Hannah's mom Sue grew up in Prince Rupert and remembers Kitson Island as the only place Rupert kids knew of that had sand! Accessible only by boat, she would go over with her family and many other families in the summer where they'd have a picnic with a weiner roast and a North Star pop. We leaned into the picnic on a sandy beach in the summer on a tiny island in the Great Bear Rainforest, maybe not a universal experience, but it's these tiny specific moments and places that we love. SCENT NOTES Think pink cupcakes and lemon cookies and just a smidge of sunblock so you don't burn while you're playing on the beach, running into the ocean, exploring the woods or falling asleep on the boat ride home. LEARN MORE Kitson Island Marine Provincial Park was created by the Province of British Columbia in 1993 in the traditional territories of the Lax Kw'alaams and Metlakatla Nations For more information about Kitson Island Marine Provincial Park including how to visit, click here:
