The brand and origins of these knife rests are unknown, but I believe them to be silverplate. Each measures around 3.5in. in length and though slightly tarnished, could be polished up nicely to bring back their shine. Knife rests are small platforms used to hold knives off the table when not in use during a meal (primarily for hygiene and cleanliness). Though no longer commonly used, knife rests date back to the 1600s and were popular over generations until their eventual decline in the 1950s and 1960s.
