In our opinion, a strop is the single best way to keep a sharp knife sharp. Whether your knife is brand new or freshly sharpened, its edge will naturally begin to lose wain through use. Stropping addresses this early stage of edge fatigue by realigning the very apex of the blade before it fully rounds over. By building the habit of a few light passes on a strop before each use, you can dramatically extend the working life of your edge. That means fewer full sharpenings, better cutting performance day-to-day, and a longer overall lifespan for your knife. It’s effective, low-impact edge maintenance — and far simpler than most people expect. Traditionaly a strop would be surfaced with leather, although many materials are suitable for the task, including cardboard, denim, canvas, balsa wood, or as we've used here, vinyl, we prefer not to use animal products if we can avoid it and it just a great job! If you’re unsure on technique, we’re always happy to show you in person. Alternatively, our video guide walks you through the process step by step, and we’re only ever a message away if questions come up. ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– Specifications • Width: approx. 60mm• Stropping area length: approx. 250mm• Total length: approx. 350mm• Construction: Ply paddle, finished with Tung oil• Stropping material: Synthetic• Handmade — dimensions may vary slightly ––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– A practical, no-nonsense tool for anyone serious about knife care, this strop is an easy upgrade to your routine that pays off every time you pick up a knife.
