Knob Creek 15 Year Bourbon 750ML is a 100-proof (50% ABV) Kentucky straight bourbon aged fifteen years in deeply charred American oak barrels. As the longest-aged standard release in the Knob Creek portfolio, this expression represents the pinnacle of the brand's commitment to extended maturation, delivering a richly layered bourbon where time in the barrel has done the heavy lifting. Quick Facts: ABV: 50% (100 Proof) | Origin: Kentucky, USA | Age: 15 Years | Distillery: Jim Beam Distillery (Beam Suntory) Production & Heritage Knob Creek is produced at the Jim Beam Distillery in Clermont, Kentucky, one of the most storied bourbon operations in the state. The distillery, now under Beam Suntory ownership, works with a mashbill of 77% corn, 13% rye, and 10% malted barley — a grain recipe that leans into sweetness while the rye provides structural spice. The 15 Year expression follows Knob Creek's small-batch production philosophy, with each barrel spending a full fifteen years in deeply charred new American oak. That extended rest far exceeds the typical aging window for Kentucky bourbon, allowing the wood influence to develop layers of complexity that shorter-aged expressions simply cannot achieve. Tasting Notes Aroma: The nose opens with rich caramel and vanilla before giving way to toasted nuts, oak, and pronounced baking spice. Whisky Advocate has described the aromatic experience as reminiscent of opening a box of chocolates, with aromas ranging from raspberry filling to pecans to spice, all suffused with cacao. Taste: On entry, a burst of cinnamon spice arrives draped in mature oak. The mid-palate expands into caramelized brown sugar, leather, and dried fruit, with vanilla sweetness providing balance against the assertive wood character. At 100 proof, there is real weight and texture here — the fifteen years of aging round the alcohol into the flavor rather than letting it run hot. Finish: Long, warm, and gently sweet, tapering into lingering oak, toffee, and baking spice. Graham cracker notes emerge late, giving the finish an almost dessert-like quality that invites another sip. How to Drink Knob Creek 15 Year This bourbon is best enjoyed neat or with a few drops of water to open the dense oak and caramel layers that fifteen years of aging have produced. The 100-proof backbone also makes it a formidable base for stirred cocktails. An Old Fashioned showcases the deep caramel and spice without losing the aged character beneath sweetener and bitters. A Boulevardier pairs the bourbon's leather and oak notes against Campari's bitterness for a rich, warming drink. A Manhattan benefits from the extended-age complexity, as sweet vermouth amplifies the dried fruit and vanilla notes already present in the whiskey. Knob Creek 15 Year positions as a premium expression within the brand's lineup and within the broader aged-bourbon category. The combination of a fifteen-year age statement and 100-proof bottling places it in a competitive value tier among well-aged Kentucky bourbons, offering genuine barrel maturity without reaching ultra-premium pricing. Why Knob Creek 15 Year? Fifteen years is an unusually long maturation period for Kentucky bourbon, where the hot, humid climate accelerates the interaction between spirit and wood. That extended time in deeply charred American oak sets this expression apart from the rest of the Knob Creek range and from the majority of age-stated bourbons on the market. The 77/13/10 corn-rye-malt mashbill provides a balanced foundation, but it is the decade-and-a-half of barrel aging that defines this whiskey — turning straightforward grain sweetness into a layered, oak-driven bourbon with real depth. For drinkers who value patience in the glass, Knob Creek 15 Year delivers what the label promises.
