KNOSSOS, from the Minotaur Menagerie collection. Knossos was the capital of Ancient Crete and home to the palace and legendary labyrinth of King Minos. Read more about Knossos, here. THE MINOTAUROS (or Minotaur) was a bull-headed monster born to Queen Pasiphae of Krete, daughter of the Sun God Helios. As punishment for some offence against the gods committed either by herself or her husband, she was cursed with the desire to be coupled with the king's finest bull. The Queen conscripted the great artisan Daidalos to assist her in the endeavour, and he built for her a hollow wooden cow, wrapped in a bovine skin and endowed with mechanical life. Hiding herself inside this contraption she conceived and bore a hybrid child, the bull-headed Minotauros. The creature resided in the twisting maze of the labyrinth, built by Daidalos, where he was offfered a regular sacrifice of seven youths and seven maids to satisfy his cannibalistic hunger. He was eventually destroyed by the hero Theseus with the help of King Minos' daughter, Ariadne. The Minotauros' proper name Asterion, "the starry one," suggests he was associated with the constellation Tauros. (SOURCE) Color Description: Inspired by the excavated palace at Knossos, Crete- and the beautiful frescoes and artifacts within. It was the legendary home of King Minos and Pasiphae, Ariadne and the Minotaur's labyrinth. This is a blue the color of the Mediterranean sea... with a strong copper shift that really gives it a chameleon like iridescence on the eyes. This color completely transforms over darker bases and when foiled! In other words, please don't let the blue scare you away... ** A primer or base is highly recommended with this shade, as it contains dyes which can cause staining on your skin. This formula is "semi loose" and features added ingredients for adhesion and wear, which also intensify the color shifts and make it easier to wear and blend over both bare skin and a variety of primers. Your eyeshadow will not arrive in "little balls" like some semi-loose formulas do, but it may be more difficult to get through the sifter holes. Sifters are easily removed. As always, I recommend a regular cream base such as NYX cream eyeshadow base. Your mileage may vary with sticky glue type primers.Contains: mica, titanium dioxide, carnauba wax, kaolin, ferric oxide, tin oxide, silica, magnesium stearate, isododecane, capric/ caprylic triglyceride, dimethicone, hydrogenated polyisobutene May contain: ferric ferrocyanide, blue 1, red 40, yellow 5, bronze/copper/ aluminum powder, palmitic acid, carmineSizes available (Full size jar has custom label art): Deluxe Sample: quarter (1/4) teaspoon in 3 gram jar.
