Grab a unique Australian pair of earrings and support endangered species recovery. If you've lived in the lower part of Australia for any amount of time you'd be forgiven for thinking that the Koala population in Australia is thriving. But, in reality, Koala's became classified as Endangered in early 2022 in QLD, NSW and the ACT. Koalas eat primarily eucalyptus plant, which is poisonous to pretty much every other living creature and contains enough toxins to kill many other animals. Despite popular belief, they do also consume some other plants. They have an incredibly slow metabolism, meaning that they sleep from about 18-22 hours a day. The biggest threats to Koalas are fire, habitat reduction, climate change, disease and feral dogs and cats. Each piece in our rare species range is delicately hand painted on a timber base and carries its own unique characteristics. Due to this some minor variations from the pictured product are to be expected. 5% of all net earnings related to the rare species range will be donated to threatened species recovery programs.
