The Korg Modwave MkII is a 37-key wavetable synthesizer with 60 stereo voices of polyphony, nearly double the original Modwave. It combines wavetable synthesis with Kaoss Physics (an X/Y pad with simulated physical modeling for interactive modulation) and Motion Sequencing 2.0 for continuously evolving patterns. Over 200 wavetable banks with up to 64 waveforms each provide the raw material, and users can import their own wavetables or samples. Wavetable Synthesis & Kaoss Physics Two layers per performance, each with its own oscillators, filters, and effects. 12 filter types include models of classic Korg circuits (MS-20, Polysix). The Kaoss Physics pad combines a touch controller with simulated physics (bouncing ball, pendulum) for modulation that responds to gesture and momentum. 13 morph algorithms and a sub-oscillator/noise generator round out the sound-shaping tools. Motion Sequencing 2.0 Adapted from the Wavestate's Wave Sequencing 2.0, Motion Sequencing 2.0 records real-time knob movements across multiple lanes to create complex evolving phrases. Steps can use probability and randomization for patterns that shift over time. Effects Four effect blocks per layer including delay, reverb, phaser, chorus, and distortion. Updated reverb sends with pre/post switching. Five LFOs and four envelopes per layer provide extensive modulation.
