The classic Cretan with beehive design, known as a pithos and originally the main design of Minoan storage vessels were the equivalents to today's barrels. Perhaps more like wooden barrels used for storage of wine and whisky than the metal variety. The Koronios, while paying tribute to this heritage, is designed for use as a planter.
