Kosbee Korean Kudzu Root is 100% pure dried kudzu — ge gen (갈근, Pueraria lobata) — harvested in Korea's mountains, in whole, fibrous root chunks rather than powder or capsules, with no additives, ready to simmer into a sweet, earthy tea. The thick chunks keep their natural fiber, and they brew into a naturally sweet, lightly bittersweet, woody-earthy cup. Each resealable pouch holds 5.25 oz (150 g). Deep in the mountains, kudzu — ge gen — sends down a sturdy root that East Asian herbal traditions have long valued and brewed into tea. Kosbee harvests Korean mountain kudzu and keeps it as whole, fibrous chunks — never ground into powder — so you can simmer the real root and taste its naturally sweet, earthy character. Whole Root Chunks, Not Powder or Capsules In North America, kudzu is usually a refined starch powder or a capsule supplement, often imported from China with little detail on origin. Kosbee gives you the real thing: whole, fibrous chunks of Korean mountain kudzu you can see and brew yourself. It is a Product of Korea, harvested and dried with nothing added or ground out. What's in the Pouch 100% Korean Kudzu Root (Ge Gen / 갈근, Pueraria lobata) Pure dried root harvested in Korea's mountains, with no additives. Whole Fibrous Chunks, Not Powder Thick chunks with visible fiber — real root you brew, not a refined starch or a capsule. Sweet, Earthy, Woody Flavor A naturally sweet, lightly bittersweet, woody-earthy taste when simmered. Caffeine-Free, Clean Label No caffeine, sugar, dyes, or preservatives — just the dried root. The 5.25 oz (150 g) pouch makes about 15 servings (1/4 cup / 10 g each). How to Brew Korean Kudzu Root Rinse 0.35 oz (about 10 g) of root chunks, add to 1.5 quarts (about 1.5 liters) of water, bring to a boil, then simmer on the lowest heat for 40 minutes to an hour. It has a sweet, earthy, woody flavor. For blends, simmer it with Kosbee hovenia fruit, cinnamon, or white peony root for a deeper, rounder cup. The root is hard and fibrous, so don't chew it — simmer it and drink the tea, then discard the chunks. How to Enjoy It Safely Kudzu contains plant compounds (isoflavones) that can act like estrogen, so if you have a hormone-sensitive condition, talk to your doctor before drinking it regularly. If you are pregnant or nursing, or take prescription medication, talk to your doctor first. It has a light, mild character, but if you have a sensitive stomach, start with a weaker brew and enjoy it in moderation. Common Questions About Ge Gen Is this kudzu root from Korea? Yes. Rinse 0.35 oz (about 10 g) of chunks, add to 1.5 quarts (1.5 liters) of water, bring to a boil, then simmer on the lowest heat for 40 minutes to an hour. It's sweet, earthy, and woody. The root is hard, so don't chew it — just drink the tea and discard the chunks. Is there anyone who should avoid it? Kudzu contains isoflavones that can act like estrogen, so if you have a hormone-sensitive condition, talk to your doctor before regular use. If you are pregnant or nursing, or take medication, check with your doctor first. The root is hard and fibrous, so simmer it for tea rather than chewing it. How is this different from kudzu powder? Most kudzu in North America is refined starch powder or capsules, often Chinese, with little detail on origin. Kosbee gives you whole, fibrous chunks of Korean mountain kudzu you simmer yourself — caffeine-free, with no additives, and clearly a Product of Korea. Kudzu root chunks vs kuzu starch — can I cook or thicken with this? No — they are different products from the same root. Kuzu starch (chik-jeonbun in Korean, kuzuko in Japanese) is the washed-out, refined white starch used to thicken sauces and make kuzumochi; it dissolves in liquid and has no herbal flavor. These chunks are the whole dried root with its fiber intact, so they won't dissolve or thicken anything — they are meant to be simmered for tea or broth and then strained out. If a recipe calls for kuzu starch, buy the starch; if it calls for galgeun or ge gen root, this is the one. Bring This Korean Root Home Want real, whole Korean kudzu root for a sweet, earthy tea?
