Detailed Description The Mighty Boom Hodges Counterweight is engineered to address one of the biggest challenges in boom operation: the amplified downward force created by a long pole acting as a lever. Even lightweight microphones can feel significantly heavier over time, especially during extended takes or physically demanding environments. By adding mass to the base of the boompole, the counterweight shifts the balance point closer to the operator, reducing strain on the arms, shoulders and back. Although the overall weight increases slightly, the pole feels lighter and more stable because the off‑balance lever force is neutralized. The counterweight is named after Scottish mathematician W.V.D. Hodge and is widely used by experienced boom operators.
