Kubb draws inspiration from the traditional Kuba cloth of western Africa, specifically the Democratic Republic of Congo. In this culture, men collect and dye raffia leaves while wo men create various textiles from the cloth. The fabric undergoes a process of softening before being woven. Kubb incorporates the primitive shapes and simple geometries of Kuba cloth but updates it with a modern colour palette.
