The Kume is a solid oak side table, a low round table pared back so the timber and its joinery carry the design. It is the warm, quiet counterpoint to Lebanto's stone and glass. It comes in two oaks. Solid oak is honey-toned and open-grained, warm and light. Smoked oak is darkened to a deep brown, its grain still legible beneath the finish, the more architectural of the two. Whichever the choice, the oak side table keeps the same essential line, the wood left to speak for itself. The base is the quieter feat. Two solid oak boards are notched at right angles and slotted one through the other into a self-supporting cross-leg structure, so the side table stands with no bracket and no visible fixing, the interlocking join shown as the only ornament the design permits. Composed and low, the oak side table settles beside a sofa or a reading chair, at home in a calm, considered interior. Like every Lebanto piece, the Kume is an Italian side table made to order in Cantù, in Lombardy's long-established furniture district, drawn from full-slab stone, solid timber, and premium Italian glass.
