Kurrunganner: I always knew I loved the shape of the mountain but once I learned its true name I felt anchored…anchored to the land, anchored to the river at its base, anchored to a sense of 'home'. I reflect on the alchemy of a mountain formed over eons and the interrelationship of those who've lived within its presence. I whisper Kurrunganner's name as blank white paper enters the chemistry under the red lights of the darkroom. The image emerges. Silver gelatin photograph made in the darkroom from a paper negative created from an original digital image made by the artist. Editions: There is a 20x24" edition of 3Edition 1 of 3 is framed. Image size: 55.7x41.8cm; Paper size 24x20"; Framed: Framed in a dark grey (arsenic) bevelled frame with a 5cm wide dark grey mount. Framed with UltraView glass for 70% UV protection, optimal clarity and antireflective qualities. There is an 8x10" edition of 31 little gems - 1 artwork each. This silver gelatin photograph is part of an edition prepared for exhibition Ranging Reflections in 2024, with another 30 Yarra Ranges artists.Each artist was required to create an artwork of a specific dimension 28x19cm, use some form of print making, make work inspired by the Yarra Ranges and create a print edition of 33 + optional AP. I'd normally make very small editions however this edition size was a requirement for the exhibition. Edition 1 is float mounted, framed and available for sale, editions 2-31 have been prepared in a solander box for each artist to take home a collection of work. Edition 33 of 33 has been reserved for the collection of the Shire of Yarra Ranges. Thus just 2 editions are actually available for sale, one framed as part of the exhibition and one that I will ultimately receive in early Feb 2025 in my own portfolio box.
