It has a hard head with balls on the nose but no hood. It has been bred in Kansai. It became extinct around 1945 but revived. Ideal Ranchu should have three tails without a dorsal fin. It has a hard head smaller than that of Lionhead with grown balls on the nose instead of a hood.
